Welcome to the

West Los angeles VA Veteran’s Garden

help our veterans heal

We are raising money to restore the 15-acre Veteran’s Garden on the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center campus, the largest farm on a medical campus in the nation.

Funds will be used to grow more fresh fruits and vegetables at the Garden that will be distributed to Veterans experiencing food insecurity and to increase agricultural therapy programming to promote health and treat disease among Veteran patients.

Veteran Testimonials

  • "This is where I started my healing. I almost died downtown - 30 years of drinking... Like everything down here, each and every one of us has grown. Like a plant that looks a little shaky, a little TLC is all we need."

  • “For those dealing with PTSD, it can feel isolating — but coming here, you realize you’re not alone. You see other Veterans going through the same thing, and even though we all have different lives, being here gives us a shared goal. As a female Veteran (with) a lot of anxiety, just feeling safe and being able to come here and let my guard down has been priceless. Also, being around other Veterans in a setting outside of the hospital is an entirely different experience. In the hospital, everyone is in pain and not talking, so it’s hard to connect. But when you come here, you get to know people, open up and feel comfortable.”

  • [The Garden] reconnects you to life and takes you out of your head. Really get back into the soil. Reconnect with the Earth cycle, seed and harvest.
